SUBJECT AREA: SOCIAL STUDIES
This is a two segment class. In the first segment students will learn more about the powwow culture. They will watch videos, read articles, hear from different speakers, while learning more about why things happen the way they do at powwows and the teachings and stories behind different elements of powwows. In the other segment, students will be given the opportunity to learn what it means to be part of a drum group and learn songs and teachings behind songs. If opportunity arises students will also be able to make their own drum and sticks.
